LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — The Licking County Health Department issued an advisory to notify the public of an increase in recent drug overdoses.
The health department encourages anyone affected by substance use to follow a number of recommendations to prevent an overdose.
The recommendations include:
- Have naloxone, also known as Narcan, on hand. Naloxone is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates during a drug overdose,
- Do not use drugs when alone,
- Be aware of the dangers of mixing drugs,
- Be aware that stimulants do not prevent an opiate overdose.
To seek treatment, call the 211 Crisis Hotline and Information Center to be connected to substance use disorder services, treatment facilities, and overdose support in Licking and surrounding counties. Dial 211 or text your zip code to 898211.
