Columbus Library officials break ground on Marion-Franklin Branch

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Metropolitan Library officially broke ground on its new Marion-Franklin Branch on Monday.

The current Marion-Franklin Branch is located within the former Beery Middle School at 2740 Lockbourne Rd.

It opened in 2014 as an “express branch,” and served a community that did not have close access to library services, according to a release.

The express branch will remain open while the new branch is built just a few blocks to the south.

The branch will double its size, going from 4,000 square feet to approximately 10,000 square feet.

It is expected to be completed in 2025.

The Columbus Metropolitan Library opened its new Gahanna and Reynoldsburg branches earlier this year. Also, the Linden and Barnett branches are currently under renovation.

Library officials will break ground on the new Canal Winchester Branch later this year.
