Police identify 17-year-old boy killed in west Columbus shooting

Police said there is no information on a suspect.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police identified the 17-year-old boy who died after a shooting on the city's west side Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Lechner Avenue, located in the Hilltop neighborhood, on a report of a shooting just before 3:40 p.m.

Arriving officers found Carnal Mixon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Mixon was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at 4:04 p.m.

Police said there is no information on a suspect. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.
