Robert Kimes, 49, has worked at the Kroger in Galloway for almost four years and is well-known by many people.
"Robert comes in every day probably a half-hour before his shift. He always comes up to my office, sits down and goes 'hey boss' and I'm like 'yeah, it's been a rough day' and he goes 'it's alright boss,'" Store leader Rick Stillings said.
We were able to talk with Kimes right before his shift started.
"When I start work I clock in, I start bagging and start getting carts," Kimes said.
He said he's gotten close to the customers during his time at Kroger.
"The customers that I work with are really pretty and they're nice and frilly," Kimes said.
Before social distancing, he said he was always greeted with hugs from customers he would see often.
Many of the customers know him by name and he always sparks a good conversation with them.
"I'm talking about a guy that uplifts you. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I've never seen him upset. So he uplifts everybody he comes in contact with, including myself," Stillings said.
He's known for going above and beyond to help anyone out.
"I take the stuff out to the car and do carryout," Kimes said.
When COVID-19 hit, he was one of the many people still out on the frontlines doing their jobs.
"I was kinda nervous but everything is going ok right now," Kimes said.
He said the company has taken great strides in creating new policies to keep everyone safe.
He said he always has a mask on, will wear gloves, use sanitizing wipes to clean the register as well as the carts.
He's not only making others smile, but he said they make him just as happy.
"I love it so much," Kimes said.
