Kings Island announces new water coaster, remodeled kids' area that is set to open in 2025

The park's new ride, RiverRacers, will be the first and only dual-racing water coaster in Ohio.

MASON, Ohio — Kings Island's water parks are getting some new additions that visitors will be able to experience next year.

The park announced that in 2025, their Soak City Water Park will debut a new water coaster, RiverRacers. The ride will be the first and only dual-racing water coaster in Ohio.

On the ride, visitors board side-by-side rafts at the starting line and speed down the first drop before each rider splits off into separate enclosed tunnels with special lighting effects. Riders then emerge back into the open air before the final drop to see who crosses the finish line first.

The park will be adding RiverRacers, the state's first and only dual-racing water coaster.

“Whether you’re a new water slide rider or an experienced thrill seeker, Soak City offers the largest outdoor water park experience in Ohio,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island. “Our park guests have wanted the thrills of a water coaster for a long time, and you can never go wrong adding new experiences for kids and families to cool off together, especially in Soak City.”

In addition to RiverRacers, Kings Island is also expanding its kids' play area, Splash River Junction, with seven new slides.

The new slides, called Salamander Sliders, will offer a variety of gentle slopes, dips and turns for kids to enjoy.

The revamped kids' area will also feature Bluegill Lagoon, a reimagined old-fashioned swimming hole with a water tower.
