PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — A Portsmouth man was arrested and charged after he was accused of sharing child sexual abuse material on the internet, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.
Portsmouth police said they were contacted by Internet Crimes Against Children about information they received regarding child sexual abuse material being sent on the internet.
On Aug. 8, several law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the home of 44-year-old Jarrod Reffitt where they seized multiple electronic devices. After going through the contents on the devices, Portsmouth police said they found Reffitt "was in possession of an enormous amount of child sexual assault material."
Police added that the videos and pictures discovered "were some of the most disturbing and vile videos and images of children, including infants, being sexually assaulted by adults."
Reffitt was arrested on Sept. 20 and indicted on 71 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
He is currently being held in the Scioto County jail.
If anyone has additional information about the case, they are encouraged to contact Detective Tori Pistole at 740-354-1600.
