The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a death of an inmate at the Madison Correctional Institution as a homicide.
A spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction identified the inmate as Robert Leach Jr.
A spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol said, "At this time the investigation is being handled as a homicide, no charges have been filed, and it remains under investigation."
The incident happened on Saturday around 12:20 p.m., according to ODRC.
Leach had been at the center since May 2017. He was serving a seven-year sentence on charges of trespass in a habitation, attempted burglary, and three counts of burglary in Lake County in northeast Ohio.
