Police: 2 dead after crash on I-71 North near Morse Road

All lanes of I-71 North beyond Morse Road have reopened following the crash.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people are dead following a crash on Interstate 71 in north Columbus Saturday evening, police said.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, a vehicle was traveling in the northbound lanes of I-71 near Morse Road, approaching state Route 161 around 4:10 p.m. The vehicle drove off the right side of the road entering the grass and continued until it stuck the concrete wall to the Woodward Park Trail pedestrian crosswalk over I-71.

Police said the driver and passenger were taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in critical condition, but were later both pronounced dead.

All lanes of I-71 North beyond Morse Road have reopened following the crash.

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
