2 injured after condo fire near Blacklick

Flames and heavy smoke were seen coming from the second floor of the condo.

BLACKLICK, Ohio — Two people were injured as firefighters battled a house fire in Blacklick Wednesday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Fire.

The fire happened in the 7300 block of Donovan Drive, located north of East Broad Street, sometime after 3:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, heavy smoke was seen coming out of the home. Flames were also seen blazing on the second floor of the home.

Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter said two people, a male and a female, escaped from the house and were taken to the hospital. The female was described as being in critical condition, but the extent of both of their injuries is not known at this time.

A dog was also taken from the home and seen being treated with oxygen.

The fire has been contained. There is visible structural damage to the top of the home. Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.

Columbus fire officials said the American Red Cross was called to assist with three units being displaced.
