A middle school in south Columbus was placed on lockdown Friday after a gun was found in the school, according to Columbus Police. The lockdown has since been lifted.
A spokesperson at Columbus City Schools says a student at Buckeye Middle School reported overhearing other students discussing that there was a weapon inside a locker at the school.
Officials at the middle school say they found the weapon and a student was detained.
Police said the student was then taken to police headquarters and the gun was secured.
The school dismissed students at their scheduled time.
No other information was immediately available.
