GAHANNA, Ohio — Heavy rain in Gahanna caused flooding on several roads and trails Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Gahanna Division of Police were busy using their social media pages to inform people living in Gahanna about the road closures and areas to avoid.
Most of the water this morning receded, but Big Walnut Creek in Creekside continued to rise.
Gahanna Parks and Recreation superintendent, Alan Little, said they have seen worse but the flooding Thursday is concerning. Typically, the creek is two to three feet, but he said it is at 10 feet.
Most of their parks sit along the creek, which he said can lead to problems. Not only does the flooding cause erosion and environmental concerns, but they can lose trash cans, porta-potties and other items that can be swept away.
People who live nearby told 10TV they expect flooding every year and it's overwhelming to see. With more rain on the way, they're concerned the flooding they already have is going to get even worse.
