DUBLIN, Ohio — “Ever fancy a jaunt across the pond? Want to go on the lash, sans cash?” That’s how the team at Visit Dublin Ohio is reaching out to people in Ireland ahead of St. Patrick’s Day.
“The other Dublin awaits,” the tourist information center's website reads.
Those who visit the Ohio city from Ireland between March 8 and March 18 will get to raise a glass on the city’s dime.
The website even provides a link for a direct flight from Dublin to Cleveland.
Those interested in taking on the challenge for a free pint must book their flight and then send a note with travel plans to Dublin, Ohio. After arrival, they have to check in at the visitor’s center and show a valid ID certifying Irish citizenship and the city will set them up with free drink for the stay, up to three days.
The promotional deal is only open to those 21 years and older and the city limited it to 25 total participants.
The website says, “From a walkable bustling little downtown to a field of giant cement corn (also not a joke), this city has it all. Our St. Patrick’s Day kicks off with a parade, followed by a pub crawl and plenty of other activities for all ages. What we lack in size, we make up for with charm…and shameless offers of free beer. Plus, you’ll be the madman (or madwoman) of your friend group who really flew to America for booze. And that’s priceless.”
