Franklin County Sheriff's Office makes 28 arrests, seizes 8 illegally possessed guns in crime blitz

The operation took place over a 12-hour period on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday, focusing on Truro and Madison townships.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — The Franklin County Sheriff's Office completed its fourth crime blitz operation of the year on Friday.

"Operation Unity" was designed to combat illegal activities such as thefts and drug-related crimes. The operation also aims to address the rise in stolen vehicles, shots fired calls and felonious assaults. 

The operation took place over a 12-hour period on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday, focusing on Truro and Madison townships, centering around the intersection of Chatterton Road and Noe Bixby Road.

Deputies made 15 felony arrests and seized eight illegally possessed guns. Below are the full results of the operation.

•62 traffic stops

•16 citations

•15 Felony arrests

•11 misdemeanor arrests

•1 OVI arrest

•1 juvenile arrest

•8 illegally possessed firearms recovered

•3 grams of cocaine seized

•15 grams of methamphetamine seized

•1 juvenile placed in a mentorship program to help redirect them from a path of harmful social environments

The sheriff's office's last crime blitz took place in August and focused on the areas of South High Street from Williams Road to the north, and going south into Pickaway County. The operation resulted in more than 30 arrests, drugs seized and more than 100 traffic stops.
