FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio -- The Franklin County Fair will proceed with a modified Junior Fair exhibition but will not have Midway or Grandstand activities, including amusement rides, attractions and commercial vendors.

According to a news release, the Franklin County Agricultural Society board unanimously passed the motion Tuesday evening regarding the fair scheduled for July 18-25 to adhere with current state guidelines regarding COVID-19.

The Franklin County Fairgrounds also says harness racing will take place contingent upon receipt of state funding, but will not have spectators.

The board is meeting regularly to discuss the timelines and plans for the modified evaluation of Junior Fair 4-H, Scouts BSA and Girl Scout projects. These projects may include virtual or socially-distant in-person presentations, according to the fairgrounds.

"While this certainly isn’t the Fair we hoped for in 2020, we acknowledge that our nation is facing a crisis unlike many of us have ever experienced," the news release said. "We hope this decision demonstrates our dedication to keeping our community safe, while still honoring the incredible efforts of our Junior Fair youth."
