Franklin County Dog Shelter hosts 'Trick-or-Treat with the Pups'

Families were invited to dress their kids up in their favorite costumes and visit the shelter from 10 a.m. to noon for an afternoon of trick-or-treating.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In the spirit of Halloween, the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center hosted “Trick-or-Treat with the Pups” on Saturday to show off adoptable dogs.

Families were invited to dress their kids up in their favorite costumes and visit the shelter from 10 a.m. to noon for an afternoon of trick-or-treating.

"It's probably one of our favorite events every year," said Erin Hamill, marketing and community relations manager. "Our goal is to find homes for our dogs, but it's also a great way to connect with our community and get our community involved with our mission here at the shelter."

There were treat stations placed throughout the shelter for kids, along with crafts, games, holiday activities and meet and greet photo opportunities with the 501st Legion, who dressed as Star Wars characters.

Visitors could also participate in reverse trick-or-treating where they could give treats to some of the shelter’s dogs.
