Franklin County Board of Elections gets ready for polls to open

The Franklin County Board of Election officials say it's ready and prepared for election day, while some voters say they aren't.

More than 100 races will appear on Tuesday's election ballot for voters, just in Franklin County alone.

Board of Election officials said it's ready and prepared for Election Day, while some voters say they aren't.

In less than 24 hours voters will have a few decisions to make.

"Just haven't heard too much about the issues and don't really have the time to," resident Jon Sattler said.

"The only thing most prominently would be local open judicial positions that I've been following recently I guess," resident Kurt Knisley said.

Some though have already decided they won't be hitting the polls.

"So you're not going to vote tomorrow? No. Why not? I just haven't voted in a while, so yeah," Lynn Nishimoto said.

Some voters in Franklin County say they just aren't comfortable making a choice on a ballot issue they haven't followed.

"I just don't feel informed enough about the issues so I don't think it'd be fair for me to go take a stance when I haven't followed the issues that much," Chelsey Corroto said.

The Franklin County Board of Elections says 143 races are on the ballot and more than 3,000 poll workers will be ready for the voters that do show up.

"These are the elections where at local levels you know there's probably going to be more dollars cents issues that come out of these elections because they're local," Aaron Sellers said.

The Board of Elections says Columbus city council seats are up for a vote. Voters will also be asked to elect members to fill the city attorney's vacancy.

Also on the ballot are two statewide issues.

Issue 1, or Marsy's Law and Issue 2, or the Drug Price Relief Act.

"I'm somewhat familiar with Issue 2 because of the massive amount of advertising they have been doing. I really can't stake a claim to any position on that, I really need to research it more," Knisley said.

While some voters aren't sure what else is on the ballot, others just don't feel informed enough.

"I feel like when I vote I like to know exactly what I'm voting for and how it's going to impact other people and I just feel I haven't followed these two issues enough to make a decision," Corroto said.

The Franklin County Board of Elections says it isn't sure what voter turnout will look like.

Columbus voters will also have to select school board members for Columbus City Schools.

Polls open in Franklin County at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
