DUBLIN, Ohio — OhioHealth announced Thursday that a fourth trimester clinic is now open inside the Women’s Health Outpatient Center at Dublin Methodist Hospital.
The hospital says this is the first of its kind in the area.
Healthcare providers in the clinic specialize in breastfeeding medicine and behavioral health, to address the needs of women navigating the postpartum period.
Outpatient services in the clinic include:
- Lactation medicine
- Breastfeeding
- Postpartum High Blood Pressure Checks and Management
- Sleep and Rest
- Nutrition and Exercise
“The weeks after your baby is born are the next phase of giving birth,” said Eleanor Byrum, CNP, lactation and breastfeeding specialist and mother of five. “During the fourth trimester, new moms can go through a vast range of emotional, physical and mental adjustments. It’s important to remember that the fourth trimester is a time for grace and not perfection.”
The clinic, led by Byrum and Dr. Jessica Tucker, is not meant to take the place of routine postpartum appointments with your OB-GYN.
“At OhioHealth, we want to continue being at the forefront of expanding and advancing care for women’s and reproductive health because women and our patients matter,” said Jason Melillo, vice president of Women’s and Reproductive Health Clinical Service Line. “We are honored to continue providing a variety of services by opening new doors for the patients we serve to feel even more seen, heard, and taken care.”
