Former Columbus Playboy Bunny remembers Hugh Hefner

Cheryl Hill-Gallucci was a Playboy Bunny in the 80s. She honors Hefner's legacy as a pioneer.

Cheryl Hill-Gallucci was 21 years old when she began working at the Columbus Playboy Club. She auditioned for the gig on a whim.

"I didn't go until the last day, like last minute. And, my number was 3,000 and something," she said.

She was chosen alongside about 33 other women. It was Hill-Gallucci's first real job.

"I think it's helped me sustain a business that I owned for 30 years," she said.

She says the gig taught her good work ethic, charity and sisterhood.

"The 34 girls that I got hired with, I'm still extremely close with prob 12 of them," said Hill-Gallucci.

Hill-Gallucci never got to meet Hugh Hefner, but news of his death saddened her.

"You know, I think he was a pioneer and he did a lot for the community and a lot for women's rights and it's just sad. It's like the end of an era," she said.

Hill-Gallucci says she will hold on to the memories and remember the good times with her "bunny sisters."

The Columbus Playboy Club opened in 1982 and shut down about four years later.
