ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WBNS-TV) - Former Athens County Sheriff Patrick Kelly will have to spend seven years in prison after losing his appeal to a conviction in 2015.
Kelly appealed his conviction in the case where investigators said Kelly improperly paid for personal clothing, meals and party supplies with public funds.
Kelly had been found guilty on 18 and 25 counts including theft in office, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, and perjury.
He was first elected as Athens County Sheriff in 2008 and re-elected in 2012.
