Fire investigation underway after fire at McDonald’s near Canal Winchester

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Division of Fire responded to a report of a commercial structure fire Sunday evening in southeast Columbus.

Firefighters arrived around 6:30 p.m. to find a McDonald’s restaurant located at 3750 South Hamilton Road on fire.

Fire investigators are on the scene working to determine what caused the fire and no injuries were reported, according to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin.

The Columbus Division of Police closed South Hamilton Road in both directions while fire crews battled the fire. The road was reopened just before 8 p.m.

A McDonald's spokesperson issued the following statement: "We are happy everyone got out safe and is okay. We are working with fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire."

The fire remains under investigation.
