Police: Man dies 2 days after a fight outside University District Kroger; suspect arrested

Columbus public safety dispatchers told 10TV they received multiple calls about a fight in the Kroger parking lot.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police say a man who was seriously injured during a fight outside of a University District grocery store Friday afternoon has died.

The victim was identified by police as 64-year-old Timothy Davis. Adrian Ashley, 46, was arrested following the fight and is now charged with murder.

On Friday, officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the 1300 block of North High Street, near Kroger, on reports of a fight between two men.

Arriving officers found Davis suffering from severe head injuries. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries on Sunday.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, witnesses told police that after Davis was unresponsive, Ashley grabbed his skateboard and struck him several times in the head. He then reportedly kicked him in the head while walking away.

Police say it is believed several witnesses recorded the assault as it took place. Detectives are looking to speak with those individuals regarding what they saw and what they may have gotten on video.
