FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — The Franklin County Sheriff's Office completed its second crime blitz operation of the year on Thursday.
"Operation Unity" was designed to combat illegal activities such as thefts and drug-related crimes. The operation also aims to address the rise in stolen vehicles, shots fired calls and felonious assaults.
The operation took place over a 12-hour period in the northeast part of Franklin County.
Deputies made 13 felony arrests and seized cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine. Below are the results of Thursday's operation.
• 123 Traffic stops
• 70 citations
• 13 Felony arrests
• 18 misdemeanor arrests
• 5 illegally possessed firearms
• 56 grams of cocaine seized
• 12.5 grams fentanyl seized
• 8.1 grams of methamphetamine seized
• 2 stolen vehicles recovered
• 84 Citizens contacted directly for crime prevention
FCSO says two of the arrests included a felony warrant for a suspect out of Arizona and an arrest on a federal arrest warrant for a homicide suspect.
The sheriff's office's first operation this year took place less than a month ago in Prairie and Franklin townships.
The Columbus Division of Police has conducted two of its own crime blitzes so far this year, focusing on the southern, eastern and northeastern parts of the city.
