COLUMBUS, Ohio — A bicyclist is dead after he was hit by a vehicle on the city’s southeast side Tuesday night, police said.
Just before 9:15 p.m., the Columbus Division of Police says a man was riding his bicycle south on South Hamilton Road, south of Eastland 2.
Meanwhile, a vehicle was also traveling south on South Hamilton Road and struck the man, knocking him off his bike. Police say the vehicle left the scene before officers arrived.
The man, identified as 66-year-old William Moore Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:22 p.m.
At the scene, officers recovered a white passenger-side rearview mirror that belonged to a 2009-2013 Toyota Camry.
The crash remains under investigation. This is the 12th fatal crash in the city of Columbus this year.
