Sheriff: Motorcyclist dead after striking vehicle backing out of driveway in southern Franklin County

The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the motorcyclist.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A motorcyclist is dead after they struck a vehicle backing out of a driveway in southern Franklin County Wednesday evening. 

The crash happened just after 6:45 p.m. on Big Run South Road, just north of Demorest Road in Jackson Township, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office

A witness told deputies that a 2021 Suzuki Motorcycle was heading north on Big Run South Road at a high rate of speed. A 2020 Buick Encore was backing out of a driveway onto the road when the motorcycle struck the vehicle with enough force for it to spin into a ditch. 

When deputies arrived on the scene, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead. The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the motorcyclist.
