Twenty-nine year old Andrew McGowan was arraigned Saturday morning for the murder of Gabriel Hinojosa.
The 22-year old was the mother of his two-year old daughter Madison.
"It hurts and it sucks because now Madison not only doesn't have a mother, but now she doesn't have her father," said Kayla Hinojosa, Gabby's cousin.
Prosecutors now say McGowan murdered Gabby in late February before placing her body in a recycling bin. That bin was found floating in Big Darby Creek in Grove City on February 24.
"I mean their relationship started off good," said Kayla. "I mean they did have some rocky back and forth but never did I ever think that he would be capable of doing something like that."
Kayla says Gabby was living with her at the time of her death. She says Gabby left home on Feb. 19th to spend time with McGowan and their daughter but, she never returned.
"I think he seen that she was doing good. She was getting herself together," said Kayla. "When she left the house she was excited. She was asking me how her hair looked, just normal conversation. Nothing to ever throw up red flags."
Now that an arrest has been made, Kayla says she and her family can being healing.
"I think our biggest fear was that the case was going to go cold and everybody was going to forget about it. So, just that there has been evidence brought forward and an arrest has been made gives us some type of closure," Kayla said.
McGowan is being held $1 million bond.
