LANCASTER, Ohio — Fairfield Union Local Schools will be closed Thursday due to violent threats made toward the schools overnight.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says the threat was made toward Fairfield Union High School
According to Superintendent Chad Belville, the school district is working with the sheriff’s office to identify the people responsible for the threats.
“We believe the Sheriff’s Department has the situation under control, so we are taking the action out of an abundance of caution to give the Sheriff’s Department plenty of time to complete their investigation,” Belville said in a statement.
Sheriff Alex Lape says there is currently no known direct threat against the school, school district, faculty or students.
Additionally, the superintendent said he will update families on whether schools will operate as normal on Friday.
