GROVEPORT, Ohio - An employee at the Amazon fulfillment center in Groveport has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the company.

Amazon said it let employees at the site know of the confirmed case.

In a statement, the company said, "We are supporting the individual who is recovering. We are following guidelines from health officials and are taking extreme measures to ensure the safety of employees at our site."

Amazon said anyone who had close contact with the person at the facility who tested positive will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days and they will be paid for their time at home.

The company said all employees who test positive or have to self-quarantine will be paid for up to two weeks.

Amazon said it will increase the frequency and intensity of cleaning at all of its sites and will adjust practices to include social distancing.

Those practices include sharing essential information on boards rather than in meetings, spreading out tables and chairs, staggering shift start times, allowing temporary cell phone access to stay in touch with family or child care providers, and additional training.

If any employee feels sick, they will be required to stay home and seek medical attention, Amazon said.

Employees are also required to clean their work stations and have been asked to postpone non-essential travel.

Amazon said employees must wash their hands for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
