COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police identified the woman and the infant girl who were killed in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night.
Officers were called to the 2900 block of East 12th Avenue near Cassady Avenue on the city's east side after 11:20 p.m. on a report of a man shooting a woman inside a home.
Arriving officers found three people suffering from gunshot wounds:
- 22-year-old Jaden Robinson
- 20-year-old Isabella Addington
- 4-month-old Imani Robinson
All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Columbus police originally said infant was a male but later corrected to say the infant was a female.
Detectives believe Robinson shot Addington and the 4-month-old before killing himself.
“We beg and plead people: don’t resort to firearms to settle your disputes. If you’re in a potentially domestic violence relationship, reach out and get help. We don’t want any more victims out of this,” Sgt. Joe Albert said at the scene.
Court documents reveal Robinson has a criminal record. He had been out on bond since May when he was arrested on weapons charges. He was set to be back in court on Sept. 19.
This is the fifth murder-suicide case that has happened in the last three weeks and the second to have happened within a week. A man and woman were found dead at a home in northeast Columbus Monday night and police are investigating it as a murder-suicide.
Columbus police said there were 25 domestic violence homicides last year. There have been 18 so far this year, according to Albert.
