Four motorists say they have no doubt someone threw rocks at their vehicles from an interstate overpass.
One of them - Krystal Jacobs - ended up with slivers of glass in her legs, arms and even feet. Jacobs and the driver of that vehicle, Deborah Yankulov, said it happened just after midnight Monday morning.
"It was really shock, and even more fear," Jacobs said. "Because we didn't know if the car was being shot at. It sounded like a shotgun blast or something, you know?"
Along the same stretch of 270, three other drivers reported their vehicles had been hit with rocks, they believe coming from the Gantz Road overpass.
"I was looking forward into the dark. It was nighttime. And I heard a big pop! And I thought I blew a tire," said truck driver Norman Harlan. "And I realized it hit me coming from the top part of my cab, my truck here. And I realized that was not a tire. And I thought, bird strike, or rock. And it was a rock because it was too loud to be a bird strike."
Truck driver Johnny Tyson says he knows it wasn't accidental.
He says he actually saw two figures standing on the bridge as he drove toward it.
"I don't know what it was that came toward my truck, but I knew it was intentional. Because they waited until right before I was about to pass. They timed it out so they could get I guess the best impact."
If this was someone's idea of a prank, like the other drivers hit, Tyson finds no humor in it.
"If I would have panicked, I would have flipped the truck. And I could have hit somebody else causing their death."
Asked what he would say to the person or persons responsible, Tyson answered, "God bless you. I hope you grow up."
A Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy wrote in an incident report that he believes the rocks were thrown from the Gantz Road overpass. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office.
