GAHANNA, Ohio — A driver is facing charges after he allegedly struck a high school student in Gahanna on Tuesday.
At 7:30 a.m., a student was in the crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle that was entering Havens Corners Road. The driver did not stay at the scene.
The student was examined for injuries at the scene before they went home with their family.
The driver was arrested a short time later, but police did not say where they were taken into custody. The driver is charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and hit skip.
“This serves as a reminder for all drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution both in and around school zones,” Gahanna city officials said.
