The Columbus Department of Public Safety has found Columbus Police did not meet burden of proof in its charges against a veteran lieutenant.

In May, Columbus Chief of Police Kim Jacobs recommended Lieutenant Melissa McFadden be fired.

An internal affairs investigation said Lieutenant McFadden created a hostile work environment and violated federal employment laws.

According to the investigation, McFadden, who is black, gave a black sergeant a more positive evaluation than he deserved because she doesn't believe in "black on black crime."

Columbus Public Safety Director Ned Pettus found all three specifications were “not sustained.”

At last check, Lt. McFadden was on desk duty.
