DELAWARE, Ohio — The death of a paddleboarder who was found in the water at Alum Creek State Park last month has been ruled as an accidental drowning.
Officers were called to an area near the beach on June 7 to search for 32-year-old Abecsai Hernandez, of Westerville, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The Montgomery County Coroner's Office said Hernandez was struggling to swim after abandoning the paddleboard and did not resurface.
Crews searched along the beach off of Lewis Center Road with several boats and dive teams and found Hernandez's body a couple hours after he was reported missing.
