1 dead after fire breaks out at southeast Columbus apartments

Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter said a fire started in a unit of a three-story apartment building on Winslow Drive.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is dead following a fire at an apartment complex in southeast Columbus Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to Columbus Park Apartments on Winslow Drive, located west of Alum Creek Drive, just before 10:40 a.m.

Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter said a fire started in a unit of a three-story apartment building. While the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, it has been contained. 

Additional details were not immediately provided.
