COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 270 near south Columbus on Wednesday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
Just before 6:55 a.m., a 2023 Honda CRV was traveling west on I-270 near Lockbourne Road when it lost control and struck a 2021 Ford F-150 from behind.
Both vehicles then lost control and went off the north side of the road and into a ditch. The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Honda appeared to have lost control because of a medical condition.
A third vehicle, a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, struck the debris from the crash and stopped in the berm.
The driver of the Honda was taken to Grant Medical Center in serious condition. They were pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:39 a.m.
The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured in the crash.
Drivers can anticipate 10-minute delay as the right two lanes are blocked on I-270 West beyond Alum Creek Drive. Authorities did not say how long the lanes will be closed.
