DAYTON, Ohio — A teenager is dead after a shooting involving officers in Dayton Saturday night, police and family members say.
According to CBS affiliate WHIO, family members have identified the teen as 15-year-old Brian Moody.
Dayton officers were working in the area of Negley Place around 8 p.m. on an assignment to address a vacant house and block party issue when they encountered a teen boy standing in the middle of the street.
According to police, when officers approached, the teen allegedly produced a Glock 17, and two officers then discharged their firearms.
Officers then began to provide medical aid to the teen who was later taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Police released a statement Sunday that said the gun had a loaded 30-round magazine.
The incident remains under investigation. Dayton Police Professional Standards Bureau will conduct a separate administrative investigation.
