Man pleads guilty to murder in connection to AutoZone robbery last summer

Darius Wynn is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 28.

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio — A Columbus man pleaded guilty to multiple charges in connection to a shooting at an AutoZone near Polaris last summer where a man was killed while attempting to stop a robbery, according to Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel.

The prosecutor's office said Darius Wynn, 28, pleaded guilty to murder, aggravated robbery, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and two firearm specifications.

The Columbus Division of Police said that Wynn and two other men were attempting to rob the AutoZone at 8338 Sancus Blvd. on Aug. 24, 2023, when 43-year-old Alejandro Fajardo-Torres intervened and was shot. An employee was also injured.

Anthony Blakely, 28, and Zackeyis Davis, 23, are also charged in the case.

The prosecutor's office added that Columbus police detectives led an investigation to uncover that Wynn was involved in a string of robberies during the summer of 2023 in Franklin and Delaware counties. The investigation revealed that Wynn was a part of targeted attacks on multiple AutoZone's and other businesses in central Ohio.

Wynn is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 28 and faces a maximum penalty of life in prison with parole eligibility after 41 years.
