Columbus police announce results of latest crime blitz at Wedgewood Village Apartments

Police said the latest edition of "Operation Unity" took place on Oct. 19 in the Wedgewood neighborhood on the city’s west side.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police released the results of an operation at Wedgewood Village Apartments that was designed to crack down on crime.

Police said the latest edition of "Operation Unity" took place on Oct. 19 in the Wedgewood neighborhood on the city’s west side.

During the 27-hour operation, nine felony arrests and 25 misdemeanor arrests were made, 17 arrest warrants were served, one gun was taken off the street and six vehicles were impounded.

The crime blitz involved patrol officers, criminal intelligence units, major crime detectives, SWAT, drug crimes units, traffic operations units and other local and statewide partners.

The "Operation Unity" crackdown began in 2021 when multiple law enforcement agencies across Franklin County worked together with the goal of stopping as much crime as possible.

Each operation focused on a specific area in the Columbus area and Franklin County and a specific goal, ranging from arresting felons on warrants and recovering illegal firearms and drugs.
