Franklin County's Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the scene.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person is in critical condition and four others were hurt in a crash involving a stolen vehicle in western Franklin County Saturday afternoon, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the intersection of Hilliard Rome and Beacon Hill roads at 1:35 p.m. on a report of a two-vehicle crash.

According to the sheriff’s office, a Kia Optima was heading westbound when it ran a stop sign at the intersection, striking a Honda Civic. Both vehicles came to a rest in a yard on the corner.

The driver and sole occupant of the Honda was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. The four occupants in the Kia were taken to Doctor’s West Hospital in what the sheriff’s office describes as “stable” condition.

The incident involved several juveniles, a spokesperson from the sheriff's office said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Smith Road at Hilliard Rome Road, northbound lanes of Grener Avenue at West Broad Street and the alley at West Broad Street and Hilliard Rome Road were closed for several hours following the crash but have since reopened.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit at 614-525-6113.
