COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Central Ohio Transit Authority will be hosting a hiring event for transit operators on Wednesday.
Those interested in applying can visit the event at 1333 Fields Ave. in Columbus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to speak with current transit operators, learn more about the position and get an onsite interview.
COTA said in a release that some applicants may even leave the event with a contingent job offer. The interview process will take approximately one hour.
COTA asks those interested to register for the fall hiring event here. Walk-in applicants will also be welcome.
There is a “Moving Forward” incentive for those hired, which includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus for those without commercial driver’s licenses and $2,500 for those hired who already have a CDL.
Applicants who are approved without their CDL will work with COTA to obtain one.
During training, there is a $20.50 pay rate and a $21.74 pay rate during onboarding. Those who stay on for more than five years will make $33.44.

Job offers are contingent upon competition of a drug screen, required physical assessments, motor vehicle records and criminal background checks.
