2 taken to hospital after crash involving COTA bus in south Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash between a truck and a COTA bus on the city's south side Sunday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

The crash happened at the intersection of Frebis and South Champion avenues around 10 a.m. A power line was taken down in the crash and officers are directing traffic until repairs can be made.

According to Columbus police Sgt. James Fuqua, the truck driver and COTA bus driver were taken to Grant Medical Center in what police describe as “stable condition.”

A spokesperson with COTA said the bus driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The bus had passengers on it at the time of the crash. No other injuries were reported. 

It’s unclear at this time what led to the crash.
