COLUMBUS, Ohio — A contractor working at the Rumpke Recycling and Resource Center in northeast Columbus died after an incident on Tuesday.
A spokesperson with Rumpke said the incident happened at a construction site at the recycling center located at 1190 Joyce Ave. around 1:20 p.m.
The contractor was taken to Grant Medical Center after an accident that happened at the site, according to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter. The spokesperson said the worker died from their injuries.
Geitter said there was a mishap with some equipment being used as part of a project.
“We offer our thoughts and prayers to all those touched in any way by today’s events,” said Randy Broadright, area safety manager at Rumpke. “We are working closely with the authorities and our project partners in the ongoing investigation.”
Rumpke said the contractor was not an employee of the company.
No other injuries occurred.
