Community remembers Newton Township fire chief with procession in Licking County

LICKING COUNTY, Ohio – A community gathered together Friday to pay their respects to the Newton Township fire chief.

Chief Jim Glover passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest after responding to a rescue run on Monday, according to the president of the Newton Township board of trustees Scott Ellis.

Glover had been chief of the fire department in Newton Township for 25 years and had been serving the community for nearly 50 years in total.

Ellis said Glover was a Marine and a Vietnam veteran.

A procession honored and remembered Glover on Friday

The procession started at noon from the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home.

Organizers said it is not be a traditional line of duty death funeral due to the actions being taken to limit the spread of the coronavirus during the pandemic.

The graveside funeral is limited to immediate family and Newton Township Fire Department members.
