POWELL, Ohio — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium announced that it is going cashless.

Starting Monday, the zoo will no longer accept cash. Officials say the move will support the organization’s sustainability efforts while making the guest’s experience more convenient.

The zoo will have pre-paid debit card machines at several locations where guests can purchase a pre-paid Mastercard if needed. There is no fee for buying the cards.

The debit cards can also be used anywhere where Mastercard is accepted.

The zoo says the cards cannot be reloaded at the machines. Guests can register their cards in the Akimbo app or website to reload money onto it.
