'It is crazy': Columbus residents react to shooting at Trump rally in Pennsylvania

Trump’s campaign said the presumptive GOP nominee was doing “fine” after the shooting, which he said pierced the upper part of his right ear.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The news of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was thick in the air on Saturday evening.

10TV spoke to people in Dublin after the shooting.

“We were just talking about it, that it is crazy, is probably the most suffice word to say about it,” said Rasa Disalvo. “It is pretty insane and crazy that this is happening, all of it.”

Disalvo, like many Americans, was in shock over the news.

Trump’s campaign said the presumptive GOP nominee was doing “fine” after the shooting, which he said pierced the upper part of his right ear.

At least one attendee was killed and two spectators were critically injured, authorities said. The Secret Service said it killed the suspected shooter.

“I am just amazed at how crazy today’s reality is that things like that are happening,” she said.

For many, the shooting transcends politics.

“I don’t think it matters where you stand politically, seeing someone get shot is an awful thing so I am really sad. I am sad it came down to something like that,” said Carrie McCoy.

“It was shocking and I am glad President Trump was fine and it is such an awful thing that someone tried to shoot him. It is cowardly I feel however hard people disagree with him, it is shameful that somebody would try and attempt some brazen thing,” said Venkata Kosuri.

While the motivation for the shooting is not yet known, there is also concern about the heightened tensions of the current political climate, with the election still months away.

“I think it is a sad day for the country that things are so bad that our differences have brought us to a point where people are shooting each other,” said John Kerr.
