COLUMBUS, Ohio — Drop-off sites will be placed throughout the city of Columbus for residents to dispose of their pumpkins and gourds left over from Halloween.

The  Columbus Division of Refuse Collection is hosting the drive-thru drop-off sites on Nov. 4, Nov. 25 and Dec. 2.

The collection sites will operate from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following Columbus Refuse Collection transfer stations:

  • 2100 Alum Creek Drive
  • 1550 Georgesville Road
  • 4260 Morse Road

The sites will accept carved pumpkins with the candles removed, full and moldy pumpkins and gourds. Pumpkins decorated with paint or permanent markers will not be accepted.

On Nov. 11, the city is hosting a drive-thru recycling event for election yard signs. It will take place at the Alum Creek Refuse Collection, located at 2100 Alum Creek Drive, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents can also take their signs to SWACO’s sign recycling event at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex on Olentangy River from 8 a.m. to noon on Nov. 11. Paper, plastic and coroplast signs (including metal stands) will be accepted and recycled at no cost.

The city encourages residents to not put plastic and coroplast signs and metal stands in the blue recycling containers. They can place the paper yard signs without metal stands in the containers.
