Columbus pools open for summer season

​All outdoor pools officially opened for the season on June 8.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Looking for a way to cool off this summer? Columbus Recreation and Parks have officially opened the city's pools for the season.

Some important things to note before heading to a pool:

  • All pools are first come, first served; there is no advanced registration.
  • Pools will have capacity limits.
  • The cost is $1 per person, per entry and guests will be required to show a leisure card for admission. Leisure cards are free and Columbus residents can apply at any community center or online.
  • All pools are closed on Wednesday, June 19, for Juneteenth and Monday, Sept. 2, for Labor Day.

The city also offers several spraygrounds including Barnett, Blackburn, Linden and Scioto Southland. The spraygrounds are open May 25-26 and June 1-2, June 8 - Aug. 18 and Aug 19 - Sept. 1.

What are the hours of the pools?

Dodge, Driving Park, Glenwood and Tuttle pools:

  • Memorial Day Weekend
    • Saturday, May 25: Noon-6 p.m.
    • Sunday, May 26: Noon-6 p.m.
    • Monday, May 27: Noon-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 1: Noon-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 2: Noon-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 4:Noon-6 p.m.
    • Lincoln, Marion Franklin, Maryland and Windsor pools are closed on July 4.

After June 8

Monday-Friday: 1-7:30 p.m.

  • Saturday: Noon-6 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon-6 p.m.

What are the rules?

  • Swimming is permitted only when a lifeguard is on duty.
  • Children under 13 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult over 18.
  • Children under 9 must be within arm’s reach of an adult over 18. An adult in proper swimwear must remain with child at all times — both in and out of the water.
  • All bags and coolers are subject to search at any time.
  • Proper swimwear is required. Please refer to swimwear regulations and guidelines signage or ask the front desk for assistance.
  • The City of Columbus reserves the right to prohibit entry to or remove anyone from the premises due to safety concerns. This includes but is not limited to: equipment or chemical malfunction, weather and/or safety emergencies, public impairment, unsafe behavior and/ or failure to follow pool area rules.
