COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police announced its newest assistant chief.

Mayor Andrew Ginther and Police Chief Elaine Bryant said Deputy Chief Nick Konves was promoted on Friday.

Konves' new position comes a little over a year after he was promoted to deputy chief.

“Over his 16 years with the division, Deputy Chief Konves has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to our community. I have great confidence in his ability to support Chief Bryant and her vision for the future of the Division of Police,” said Columbus Public Safety Director Kate Pishotti.

The new assistant chief joined the division in 2007. Konves has worked in patrol, the major crimes bureau, as a member of the community response team and the discipline and grievance unit.

“I am grateful and humbled by the trust Director Pishotti and Chief Bryant have placed in me,” said Konves. “I could not be prouder of this division and the men and women who dedicate their lives to keeping Columbus safe. It is my honor to continue to serve the city I love.”

Konves was a member of the diversity unit and oversees the public accountability subdivision.

Konves joins LaShanna Potts and Gregory Bodker as the department's assistant chiefs.

His first day in the new role will be on March 24, 2024.
