COLUMBUS, Ohio – A lawsuit has been filed against the Columbus Division of Police on behalf of Lieutenant Melissa McFadden, who is the subject of an internal investigation by the department.
Columbus police chief Kim Jacobs recommended Lt. McFadden be fired after an Internal Affairs investigation said McFadden created a hostile work environment and violated federal employment laws.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court by McFadden’s lawyer.
The lawsuit claims the Columbus Division of Police “retaliated and discriminated against” McFadden.
McFadden is now on desk duty and in the property room according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit calls the post “humiliating” and she is not able to receive overtime pay.
It is alleged in the lawsuit that McFadden was removed from the position of lieutenant “without due process”.
Chief Kim Jacobs' recommendation of termination now goes to the city Safety Director for final review.
10TV has reached out to the Columbus Division of Police for comment on the lawsuit but has not heard back.
