COLUMBUS, Ohio — A juvenile suffered life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning after they fell out of an open window of a moving vehicle in the Hilltop neighborhood.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, three juveniles, ages 14 to 18, were traveling in a Kia Optima southbound on South Westgate Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

Police said the juvenile in the front passenger seat was sitting in an open window while the vehicle was moving. The Kia went over a speedbump, causing the juvenile to fall out of the car and onto the pavement.

The juvenile was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the Kia was not stolen and that it was a family car.

Detectives are looking into what charges may be filed, if any.
