Columbus police identify man killed in shooting near Weinland Park

According to Columbus police dispatchers, someone called 911 and said a person shot their friend and drove off.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are investigating a homicide that happened near Weinland Park Wednesday night. 

According to Columbus police dispatchers, someone called 911 and said a person shot their friend and drove off. Officers responded just before 11:20 p.m. in the area of North 4th Street and East 7th Avenue.

Authorities arrived on the scene and located 20-year-old Tavion Walker in the rear of the alley of N. 4th Street suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Walker was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m.
